Description
Policosanol is Enhanced Octacosanol extract, which is Octacosanol with several other long chain fatty alcohols attached. It is a natural supplement derived from sugar cane.
Ingredients
Other Ingredients: cellulose, mannitol, hydroxyproyl methylcellulose, citric acid, sodium starch glycolate, polyethylene glycol, croscarmellose sodium, stearic acid, silica, and riboflavin.
Recommended Use
Take one tablet twice daily with meals: one in the morning and one in the evening. The recommended dose range is 5 mg to 20 mg of policosanol per day. The individual dose should be based on the amount of Policosanol required to lower cholesterol to the ideal range of between 180 and 200 mg/dL. Some people will only need 5 mg while others will require 20 mg per day. The average person uses 10 mg a day of Policosanol to achieve optimal cholesterol control.
Warnings
No side-effects have been noted. Toxicity tests in rats using 1724 times the human dose showed no toxicity.Policosanol does not interact with other drugs such as blood thinners and may potentiate the effectiveness of cholesterol lowering drugs. Obviously, pregnant or nursing women should consult a healthcare professional first. Do not take this product if it causes cholesterol levels to fall below 180 mg/dl. Check your levels periodically to monitor progress. Work with your physician and notify him or her that you are taking this product or adding it to your drug regimen.
